Support The Eclipse

An old sport is new again! Vintage Base Ball is coming back to Cecil County for its second season and you can be part of it. One of the fastest growing sports sweeping the nation is vintage base ball, and a club has formed right in Cecil County. The Eclipse Base Ball Club of Elkton will be re-creating the first base ball team that played in the area in the 1860s. The “new” Eclipse will be playing by the rules of 1864 complete with period uniforms, equipment and rules. They will be competing against clubs from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania Virginia, New England, and Rhode Island.

In order to compete, the Elkton Base Ball Club is looking for your help! We are putting together a guidebook for fans who are interested in our club as well as those who come out to our games (which will take place at Elk Landing at the end of Landing Lane in Elkton). The guidebook will teach fans the rules of the day, the language being used, the history of the game, its customs, and even the history of baseball in Cecil County and the area. The top two thirds of a page will be information and the bottom third will be an advertisement from companies like yours. Your help and support will go a long way in showing the public what it was like to play base ball back before million dollar contracts and even gloves! For just $75 you can have a 1/3 page black and white ad in our booklet. For $100, you can have a full page ad.

The Elkton Base Ball Club is a subcommittee of the events and programming committee of the Historic Elk Landing Foundation, Inc.
