Did you know we are a 501c3 organization?

The purposes of the Elkton Base Ball Club and Exhibition Company, Inc. shall be to help preserve, perpetuate, and promote the history and heritage of the game of base ball as it was played during its formative years and other historic eras, in order that these may contribute to the present and future of baseball to inspire and inform future generations. This worthy objective shall be accomplished by the following activities and endeavors:

a. Presenting the game of base ball as it was actually played in accordance with the rules, equipment, uniforms, field specifications, customs, practices, language, and behavioral norms of the period.

b. Supporting the formation and strengthening of vintage base ball clubs by sharing vintage base ball information, setting standards of historical accuracy and participation.

c. Encouraging research and disseminating information in order to recreate the game in keeping with the highest levels of accuracy and authenticity.

d. Educating the public regarding the character, history, and growth of the game with attention to the historical context in which it originated and developed.

In order to achieve its goals and sustain the traditions and values which it seeks to honor and emulate, the Club and all of its members will conduct all matches, meetings, and other activities--both on and off the field--according to the highest standards of sportsmanship, gentlemanly behavior, courtesy, and respect for others.

The Elkton Base Ball Club and Exhibition Company ( a Maryland non profit corporation and 501c3 pending company) is also to promote the history of the game is occasionally available for many community functions. If you are interested in having a member of the club speak at your non profit function please contact us. We have done lectures at libraries, historical societies, Civil War roundtables, chambers of commerce, Lions Club meetings, Rotary meetings and much more.

The organization also has a soft spot for youths. The club will occasionally do kids clinics before home matches to teach kids how to play 19th century base ball and how to be part of a team. They have also mentored youths and at risk youths as well.

If your non profit group is looking for a unique fundraiser, the Elkton BBC and Exhibition Company is here for you. Have you ever wanted to sell tickets, concessions, raffles and anything else you can think of to raise money we are available. For each home game we will make available our venue as well as our club and an opponent. The rest is up to you. We can help you every step of the way from planning, ideas and execution. We have had several successful fundraisers including a Sarcoma Awareness Night and a Children's Cancer Awareness Day that has raised hundreds of dollars for charity. Contact us for more information.

Finally, the Club also promotes, manages, and executes festivals and tournaments as well as single matches for all over the Mid Atlantic region. We are responsible for the entire Gettysburg National 19th Century Base Ball Festival which draws thousands to Gettysburg as well as 18 clubs from all over the country to see and learn all about 19th century base ball. We also assist the Strasburg Rail Road with 2 tournaments each year as well as assist with other tournaments and festivals all over the region. If you are interested in our services, just contact us.
